round-up

A couple of weeks ago I showed you my work tray, full of felt all cut and ready to be sewn....it took me a while but I've now finished them all !! I've even listed them all on my website, in a 'trying-to-be-organised & efficient' fashion!

a new arrival

John has been working at our friends factory this week...and look what he rescued that they were going to throw in the skip ::
one of the drawers is missing and it's absolutely filthy, just look at all that dust!!!
once it's all clean and shiny it'll be great for holding all sorts of goodies :-)
Instead of cleaning the new arrival I spent the day updating my website....and the ribbons are finally for sale! yay!

Big Daddy

Today I received a request to custom make some lettering for a costume.
The letters were to spell BIG DADDY and I was sent a picture to work from ::
I think they match the original :-)
I've also been cutting out a lot more flowers & cupcakes, this time for an order from my wholesale shop ::
John is working late tonight so I should make some good headway sewing these pretties together :-)

B.U.S.Y.

News:
The day job is crazy busy.
paper-and-string is crazy busy.

I have a million things on my to-do list (nothing new there!)
I found a new ribbon supplier and got up super early this morning and ordered A LOT of new ribbons (yippee!!)

I got a splinter underneath my nail and it won't come out and it hurts!
The sun is shining which will make my daily trip to the Post Office that little bit nicer :-)
*Me (on Sunday evening) trying to avoid the camera by hiding behind John ... it didn't really work & it makes me laugh!!

sunday

I LOVE Sunday.

plans were made which involved a car show, but they were cancelled yesterday, so we have a surprise free Sunday

I'll spend a couple of hours at the workshop packing orders...
and a few hours hand sewing, maybe in the garden, maybe watching a film...I will let the weather decide that one!

boxes

yesterday was a day full of boxes!

lots of boxy pouches :: made from fabric, stiff interlining and felt
and lots of box manoeuvring ::
remember I said I'd bought a whole new Billy shelf?
It's a bit crazy because I only wanted to buy some extra shelves... 4 spare shelves would cost £28, but a whole Billy is only £29.90!
so all the spare shelves are in my bookcases holding supplies and felt goodies...and if you look closely at the photo you will see the Billy frame creating an under the table storage area :-)
marvellous.

shuffling

my sister and neice came to visit on Sunday and they bought me a workshop-warming gift!!

She's saying 'more coffee?' and when I look at her I say 'yes please'!!

I have temporarily homed her on my stash shelf but will hang her on the wall as soon as I remember to take a hammer with me ;-)

I created some chaos in the workshop the other day because I felt the need to shuffle all my shelves around....I bought another Billy because it was cheaper to buy a whole bookcase than a few spare shelves (madness!) so I have spent the past 2 evenings shuffling everything until I am happy...
...it's getting there, tonight I shall put up the final piece of cupboard-ry and then I can shuffle some more!

freebie time :: August 2009

I'm so excited about this freebie!
August's freebie gives you the chance to win a brand new made-by-me item...I came up with the idea a few weeks ago ... a new storage item to hang from a hook or a door knob, or even off a pin board...(I was inspired by all the hours sitting looking at my Ikea hanging rails!!)

...as with all new ideas it took a few trial attempts and a pile of 'not quite rights' but finally the prototypes led to a design I'm (more than) happy with :-)
I used strong interfacing to make them sturdy
and they hold lots of goodies!
Ta DAAA! :: Felt Wall Pockets.
SO ... now for the freebie part.....
I am offering one prize this month.
The winner can decide which design they would like, Monkey, Giraffe, or Flower.
... and I will include a selection of crafty goodies to fill the Wall Pocket with :-)
TO ENTER :: simply leave a comment on this post and I will pick a winner at random.
I will post world wide and will announce a winner on Monday 10th August
GOOD LUCK

printing

I set my printer to work today and after a little scissor action I had piles of new stationery and packaging ::

There are stickers, owl kit parts, flower kit parts and address labels...those square pictures are my new Thank You cards ::
I always include a Thank You note in all my parcels and thought I'd make them all a little bit more cheerful :-)

new toy

I got a surprise new camera!

My friend went to buy this camera as a gift for his sister, but the shop only had the demo model so he haggled and got a very nice price, but the charger was missing...so he bought it, then decided that a camera with no charger was half a present, so went to another shop and got a similar camera...he knew I had mentioned needing my own camera (I normally use John's) so he asked if I wanted the bargain before taking it back to the shop...I said yes please! The charger has been purchased via eBay but there is still a little life in the battery so I took some snaps today ::
A pile of freshly made new items & old favourites
Another new idea in the prototype stage
close up ::

A funny view of my workshop because I keep thinking the picture taking button is the off button!
